AYP New Building

AYP (Ansar Youth Project) is an innovative and inclusive community organisation supporting young people and families across Brent and neighbouring boroughs. We specialise in reaching disadvantaged and marginalised communities through faith- and culturally-sensitive youth and community work.

We believe that every person has potential, and that those left behind by traditional services must not be ignored but engaged. Young people facing disadvantage should not be overlooked but mentored. The young person on a street corner is not a lost cause but a potential leader and valued member of society.

AYP exists to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity — empowering people of all ages to become confident, active, and compassionate citizens.

Our Approach

AYP engages residents through activity-based informal learning, where youth and community workers guide participants positively, supporting holistic personal, social, and spiritual development.

We deliver programmes that combine fun, learning, wellbeing, and opportunity. Our services are inclusive, accessible, and co-designed with those who use them.

Key Achievements (2024 Snapshot)

  • Engaged over 1,000 young people through youth club, outreach, detached work, and online engagement.

  • Over 100 young volunteers actively contributed to AYP programmes.

  • Over 200 Brent residents volunteered with AYP across various community projects.

  • 128 young people achieved accredited qualifications.

  • 62 young people previously in the NEET category secured paid employment.

  • 18 safeguarding disclosures referred to social services and over 100 recorded throughout the year.

  • Operated a youth-led food bank during the pandemic when current provision was overstretched.

  • Strengthen international collaboration through our sister youth centre in Tanzania (Kijana Kwanza).
