AYP Monologue Competition – Monologue Ideas II

Jun 29, 2020

In Collaboration with Rita Bernard-Shaw, Percelle Ascott, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Bani Mendy and Luke Davies, AYP will be hosting a Monologue Competition for young people in London aged between 14 and 17.

To help you with this the judges have selected 3 possible monologues that you may use:

DRAMATIC MONOLOGUE FROM ‘LITTLE WOMEN’

(Male part in any accent)

EXT. WOODS. DAY.
Mr Laurie and Miss Jo walk through the woods together.

LAURIE

You don’t have to stay here Jo.

Laurie looks at Jo. Inhales, he’s about to say something
immense.

LAURIE (CONT’D)

I’ve loved you ever since I’ve
known you Jo… I couldn’t help it,
and you’ve been so good to
me…I’ve tried to show it but you
wouldn’t let me; now I’m going to
make you hear and give me an answer
because I can’t go on like this any
longer. I’ve tried so hard. I gave
up everything you didn’t like and I
waited and I never complained.

He looks a Jo. He can tell she just wants to be friends. He
is angry.

LAURIE (CONT’D)

Well then! I know you will care for
somebody, and you’ll love him
tremendously, and you will live and
die for him! I know you will, It’s
your way! You will.
Laurie’s anger turns to sadness.

LAURIE (CONT’D)

You will…And I’ll watch.
